The workshop ‘Contextual Interactions – Machine Learning for Designers’ is acompactcourse offered by the UdK Berlin that aims to explore new forms of intelligent sensor-based interaction and to teach machine learning enabled prototyping techniques.
In this workshop, students will learn the basic mechanisms of neural networks, as well as the most important terms and techniques for processing and using sensor data with machine learning. Using a capacitive sensor array, they will design touchless interactions that are recognized by neural networks. Designing goodUXfor screenless interactions is challenging due to the lack of possibilities to provide information on how to use the interface. The workshop will provide an introduction to the theory and practice of machine learning for interaction design, as well as hands-on experience with a novel sensing technology. The workshop is suitable for students who have an interest in exploring new modalities of interaction.
